Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU) is expanding its network of partners: the representatives of the Sultanate of Oman have been interested in the cooperation possibilities with the University recently. A delegation from Oman, consisting of Abdullah Mohammed Al-Sarmi, the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Higher Education, and his colleagues from the high schools, visited VGTU on May 27. They were accompanied by the representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania, organising their visit to Vilnius and Kaunas.
During the meeting, the guests were informed about VGTU studies programs, research directions, as well as students and teachers’ mobility programs. Most of all the delegation was interested in the Masters and PhD students’ exchange and the internships’ possibilities for the VGTU academic staff in Oman.
Alfonsas Daniūnas, the Rector of VGTU, Asta Radzevičienė, the Vice-Rector for International Relations, Antanas Čenys, the Vice-Rector for Research and other representatives of the International Studies Centre, the faculties of the Basic Sciences and Electronics, attended the meeting.
Whereas the guests wanted to know more about the preparation of engineering professionals and their training base at VGTU, after the meeting they were shown the Laboratory of Building Constructions as well as that of Physical and Mechanical Characteristics of Soil.
Having evaluated the potentialities of the University, the guests assured that VGTU will be put on the trusted foreign universities list and will certainly receive the attention from Oman students. They also intend to maintain friendly relations with our University and to start the negotiations for the most appropriate partnership form, in the near future.
