The 5th of May is a professional holiday for Lithuanian Water Management Workers.
The water management sector is an important part of the city's infrastructure. The state and quality of work in this sector have a direct impact on the well-being and health of residents and economic development. The Faculty of Environmental Engineering and the personnel of the Department of Water Engineering have made a significant contribution to the development of water supply and sewerage in Lithuania, the rational use of water resources, and the protection of the environment throughout the entire period of their existence and transformation.
In honour of Water Management Workers' Day, the VILNIUS TECH Library would like to present the science-fiction book Twenty Thousand Leagues under the Sea by Jules Verne.
Professor Pierre Aronnax embarks on an expedition in search of a great sea monster, which turns out to be a steel-wrought submarine under the command of the mysterious Captain Nemo.
The 1870 classic novel is more than a spectacular drama that forecasts the inventions and advances of the twentieth century with unbelievable accuracy. It has become a literary milestone for generations of science fiction writers.
