VILNIUS TECH Faculty of Architecture kindly invites to the Open lecture "Adaptive Reuse" by prof. dr. Ing. Widjaja Martokusumo (Institut Teknologi Bandung, Indonesia) on 17 February at 10:20, room 3.9.
Adaptive reuse course discusses arguments and underlying notions in accommodating new uses/life for existing building and/or eventually structure or fabric with socio-cultural of significance. Selected projects and case studies provide specifically explanation on design problems and architectural design approaches in adaptive reuse.
WIDJAJA MARTOKUSUMO is professor in architecture and urban heritage conservation (Architectural Design Research Group) at School of Architecture, Planning, and Policy Development, Institut Teknologi Bandung, Indonesia. He earned his architectural degree in 1991, and completed his Doktor-Ingenieur in 1999 at the Faculty Urban and Landscape Planning, University of Kassel, Germany. His academic focus spans architectural conservation, urban heritage, adaptive reuse, and urban revitalization. He has published extensively in these fields and engages in international academic collaboration with institutions in Germany (TH OWL, FH Erfurt), Australia (The University of Melbourne), Lithuania (VGTU), South Korea (Chungnam National University), and Kyoto University (Graduate School of Environmental Studies). His current research interests include heritage-led development, adaptive reuse, circular economy and multisensory design in urban environments.
