Life cycle thinking is a comprehensive approach to evaluating the environmental, social, and economic impacts of a product or process throughout its entire life span, from idea, raw material extraction to disposal or recycling. It offers a holistic perspective, emphasizing interconnectedness and the importance of considering all stages to prevent unintended negative consequences. By understanding the full spectrum of impacts, it fosters informed decision-making and proactive sustainability measures, urging a shift from isolated solutions to integrated, long-term strategies. This thinking aims to ensure balanced and sustainable choices by highlighting the intricate web of implications in our choices.
You will learn:
In this course, you will learn about the life cycle, which includes the environmental, social, and economic assessment and understanding of the impact of a product or service throughout its lifespan from conception to end-of-life or recycling. You will also learn how to calculate CO2, water, energy, and other pollution footprints.

- Different types of assessment.
- Ensuring quality and consistency: recommended methods and data.
- Normalization of results, methods of comparing results of different nature, multi-criteria evaluation, determination of weighting indicators.
- Life cycle assessment for decision making and planning.
- Making sustainable consumption and production a reality.
