Landscape architecture students prepare proposals for Žvėrynas
Diana Liatkovskaitė and Raimonda Kubiliūtė, students of Landscape Architecture at the Faculty of Architecture (AF) of Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VILNIUS TECH), are working on a proposals for the Žvėrynas district of Vilnius.
Spring is the time of year for theses. AF Landscape Architecture students Diana Liatkovskaitė and Raimonda Kubiliūtė are working on their proposals for B. Nemcovas Square pond environment and the territory of the former stadium on Blindžių Street in Žvėrynas, Vilnius.
AF students regularly collaborate and consult with experts in various fields. This time the faculty was visited by Rasa Pavarienė, an expert in the field of Real Estate, an active member of Žvėrynas community. Rasa Pavarienė shared her valuable knowledge and insights into the areas covered by the students.
R. Kubiliūtė raised questions of the maintenance and improvement of the ponds, while D. Liatkovskaitė shared the results of the survey, which showed that the area of the former stadium should retain its sports function. The real estate expert agreed with the students that the issue of pond maintenance is sensitive in Vilnius and that there are not enough public sports areas in Žvėrynas.
During the meeting R. Pavarienė and the graduates also discussed more problems of interest to Žvėrynas: transit, parking and other issues. The real estate expert also shared her experience as an active member of the Žvėrynas community, guiding the students towards an even higher quality diploma project.
The students' proposals for Žvėrynas will be ready at the beginning of this summer. In the meantime, you can see more works by landscape architecture students: during the whole month of April, you are welcome to visit the 1st floor foyer of Vilnius District Municipality, where the exhibition "Nemenčinė Cultural Landscape: the vision of the Neris and Nemenčia riversides" is on display.
