About research and innovation
Research activities take place at 4 departments: Architecture, Architectural Fundamentals and Theory, Art, Urban Design, Institute of Architecture and research laboratories of Urban Analysis.
Main research areas in Faculty of Architecture embrace analysis and design of architectural and urban objects, architectural heritage and development; theory and practice of urban and regional planning; history and theory of architecture; interpretation of modern architectural ideas; teaching methods in drawing, painting, sculpture and applied graphics; acoustical properties of built environment.
PhD studies are organized in the fields of Humanities, History and Theory of Arts (03H), Sculpture and Architecture (H312). The aim of doctoral studies is to prepare scientists and professionals in architecture of top level.
Architecture Faculty organizes a national or international scientific conference every autumn, and a conference for junior researchers ‘K. Šešelgis' Readings’ every spring. The research journal ‘Journal of Architecture and Urbanism’ is published by VILNIUS TECH with partners: Lithuanian Academy of Sciences and Taylor & Francis Group (from 2012). It is abstracted and indexed by SCOPUS, ICONDA, EBSCO, CSA and many other databases.
