PhD programme in Humanities, History and Theory of Arts (03H), Sculpture and Architecture (H312)
The PhD programs in Humanities, History and Theory of Arts (03H), Sculpture and Architecture (H312) field trains the independent scientific researcher who is capable of covering issues in history and theory of architecture, urban design and landscape architecture, also in conservation of urban and architectural heritage.
Since founding the Architecture Faculty in VISI in 1971, 29 PhD thesis were defended. In the period 2002–2010 nine doctoral students defended their thesis out of twelve (75%). In 2011 Vilnius Gedimino Technical University started joint doctoral studies together with Klaipėda University in Humanities, History and Theory of Arts.
In order to enroll to PhD program, the applicants holding masters or alternative degree must pass the selection procedure. Doctoral program takes 4 years of studies, it includes classes of 5 study subjects, scientific research and preparation of PhD thesis. The scientific title acquired by the doctoral student in the field of architecture is Doctor of Science.
