VILNIUS TECH represents Lithuania in Saint-Gobain Architectural Competition
The "Saint-Gobain" International Architecture Student Competition is taking place in Helsinki from 10 to 12 June, where Lithuania is represented by the winners of the National Round - the VILNIUS TECH Architecture Student Team.
The winners of the "Saint-Gobain" National Round in spring 2024 were VILNIUS TECH Architecture students Laura Norkūnaitė, Lukrecija Simutytė and Valdas Razma (headed by Prof. Dalia Dijokienė). Only selected winners of the National Round from 29 countries participate in the International Stage.
VILNIUS TECH team won the National Round with the project "VIKKI THREE". Vikki's urban concept in Helsinki consists of two main parts: a strategic development depicted in the urban plan and an innovative design for the competition. It aims to integrate the university's historic sites via a network of pedestrian pathways and public spaces inspired by Japanese garden aesthetics. This design strategy emphasizes connectivity between the campus sides, blending natural formations with new developments, thus enriching the student and community experience. Tomorrow, VILNIUS TECH students will present their competition entry to the international community. The three-day event started today, with the winners of the national stages competing against each other, tours, feedback sessions, congratulations and awards ceremonies and a gala dinner.
The "Saint-Gobain" competition has been running since 2004 and attracts more than 1,300 participants. The competition is based on the vision of sustainable development and aims to give students the unique experience of proposing a sustainability-based project idea in different cities each year.
