About Faculty
Antanas Gustaitis’ aviation institute (AGAI) of Vilnius Tech university was established in 1993 and is the university body which has rights of the faculty. The faculty aims at preparation of highly qualified specialists of all major aviation fields, it also carries out research in the field and organises specialised training courses.
Antanas Gustaitis’ aviation institute is licensed by the Transport Competence Agency. It holds the following licenses: approved pilot training organisation (ATO), approved air traffic controllers’ training organisation (ATCO), aircraft maintenance organisation (Part- 145), continuing airworthiness management organisation (CAMO) and the licence of Kyviškės aerodrome. All these licences signify that the training procedures carried out in the institute comply with the international regulations and that training is constantly audited by such institutional bodies as ICAO, EASA and Eurocontrol.
The aviation industry is one of the most rapidly developing sectors worldwide, so the aim of the Institute is to become one of the region’s leading institutions educating aviation specialists of the highest quality and promoting interest in aviation in Lithuania. Currently AGAI is ranked 13th place among European aviation schools. According to the "QS World university ranking" Vilnius Tech falls into the category of #301-350 best universities in the fields of mechanics, aeronautics and production engineering.
Currently the institute hosts more than 60 members of staff and more that 500 students seek their degree at AGAI.
