VILNIUS TECH representatives enhanced their competencies at the “ProbAI 2025” Summer School

VILNIUS TECH representatives successfully participated in the summer school “Probabilistic AI School 2025 (ProbAI),” held at the prestigious Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim. This mission was funded under the project “Strengthening Future Engineers’ Competencies for Developing Energy-Efficient Autonomous Systems” (ENERGYCOM 2024, NPHE-2024/10402).

The main goal of the ENERGYCOM 2024 project is to foster mobility in the Nordic region and strengthen the competencies of future engineers. Special attention was given to knowledge and skills related to the development of energy-efficient autonomous systems using advanced artificial intelligence technologies.

The summer school featured lectures delivered by recognized experts from universities and research centers around the world. In addition to theoretical sessions, participants engaged in hands-on workshops and seminars, providing opportunities to deepen their knowledge and acquire practical, applicable skills. These competencies will be directly integrated into the project’s activities and students’ learning process, enriching VILNIUS TECH study programs.

During the intensive training, topics directly aligned with the project’s objectives were explored. Participants delved into probabilistic modeling, deep generative models, probabilistic programming, and other advanced machine learning methods. These areas are crucial for developing efficient and reliable autonomous systems. The knowledge gained will help to better manage and reduce uncertainty, improve system reliability and energy efficiency—highly relevant when designing autonomous systems that meet strict green industry and sustainability criteria.

The visit to Norway also provided an opportunity to establish valuable new contacts with NTNU researchers, discuss possible directions for future cooperation in projects, research, and mobility. Strengthening these ties is essential for developing academic connections between Lithuanian and Nordic universities, promoting knowledge exchange and joint innovation.

Participation in the “Probabilistic AI School 2025” not only enriched the knowledge and skills of VILNIUS TECH representatives but also opened new opportunities for international cooperation, contributing to the training of future engineers and the development of sustainable technologies.
