The 5th Baltic Conference of Young Researchers in Architecture, Landscape Architecture & Urbanism, will take place over two days on October 3-4, 2024.
The purpose of this conference is to share PhD students’ research and improve its quality, provide versatile feedback, and help them build an academic and vocational network.
The first day of the conference, October 3, will be dedicated to lectures, excursion and social event and will take place at the Lost Shtetl Museum in Šeduva town, Lithuania. The keynote lecture will be given by the architect of the Lost Shtetl Museum, Emeritus Professor of Contemporary Architecture at the University of Oulu, Finland, Rainer Mahlamäki. The Executive Director of the museum, Sergey Kanovich, will present the idea and the development of the museum.
The second day, October 4, will be dedicated to PhD student‘s presentations and scientific discussions at the Rokiškis Manor House in Rokiškis town, Lithuania. The PhD students' presentations will be commented on by experienced researchers from architecture schools in the Baltic countries.

LECTURERS:
Rainer Mahlamäki – Emeritus Professor of Contemporary Architecture at the University of Oulu (Finland), was Chairman of the Board of the Finnish Museum of Architecture from 2002 to 2006 and President of the Finnish Association of Architects from 2007 to 2011. He founded the architecture firm Lahdelma & Mahlamäki together with Ilmari Lahdelma in 1997. His best-known works include the Museum of the History of Polish Jews in Warsaw, Poland, and the Finnish Forest Museum Lusto in Punkaharju, Finland.
Sergey Kanovich – poet and essayist, founder of the Šeduva Jewish Memorial Foundation and initiator of the idea for the Lost Shtetl Museum project. He considers this project to be the most important undertaking of his life.

(For VILNIUS TECH students, the participation fee is covered by the institution).
PRESENTATION:
The conference includes only oral presentations
Official presentation language: English
The time limit for oral presentations: 20 min.
The oral presentations should be prepared using the „Microsoft Power Point“ program (save your „PowerPoint presentations as ppt.).
PUBLICATION:
Doctoral students can submit articles on the topic of the presented research to the journal "Science – Future of Lithuania", which publishes original work by young researchers (https://journals.vilniustech.lt/index.php/MLA).
