Director of VILNIUS TECH Library – Chairman of Lithuanian Research Library Consortium
On March 26 during the general meeting of the members of the Lithuanian Research Library Consortium (hereinafter – the Consortium) the chairman, deputy chairman, council and audit commission of the LMBA were elected Director of the VILNIUS TECH Library Ingrida Kasperaitiene, who has been entrusted with the post of the head of the Association for the second time, was elected as the chairman of the LMBA.
The purpose of the Lithuanian Research Library Consortium – to subscribe electronic databases for the members of the Lithuanian Research Library Association and other libraries, to take care of the necessary funding, to maintain contact with publishers, to collect information on the needs of Lithuanian researchers, to analyze statistical indicators of database use. Currently, the Consortium unites 45 members: 15 universities, 6 research institutes / centers, 17 colleges, Lithuanian Martynas Mažvydas National Library, 2 special libraries and 5 county public libraries.
The funding for ensuring access to the necessary electronic scientific databases was supported by the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports of the Republic of Lithuania, which allocated 5,350,000 million to LMBA in 2024. Euros for the annual subscription of information resources, with the condition that institutions contribute 28 percent co-financing with own funds.
In 2024 the Consortium members subscribed 110 databases and tools: more than 53,000 electronic magazines and more than 539 thousand electronic books, had purchased 6 archives. During 2023 were downloaded 4,792 million full-text documents, which is 8% more than in 2022. Statistics can be generated by each institution from the automated information system for licensing and administration of electronic science databases.
