WHY SHOULD I PROVE MY ORCID ID? IS IT REALLY IMPORTANT?
VILNIUS TECH Press encourages researchers to include ORCID iD in their account. In a large community of scientists, many researchers share the same or a similar name, and it is easy to confuse a person with someone else. Also, a person may change a name or have a name that has been translated into other languages. Further, a successful researcher works across a number of institutions over the course of their career or may be engaged in work across a range of disciplines.
That is why it is very important to researchers to be correctly identified and credited, through the course of their careers, no matter what changes within their personal or professional lives.
Open Researcher and Contributor iD, otherwise known as ORCID, is a great resource available to scholars to prevent any sort of confusion and ensure the correct attribution of their research.
If you have more questions about ORCID iD, everything is here.

WHAT ARE THE CONDITIONS FOR USING ARTICLES PUBLISHED IN VILNIUS TECH JOURNALS? IS IT POSSIBLE TO REPRODUCE THE ACCEPTED MANUSCRIPT IN A DOCTORAL THESIS WHICH AUTHOR IS CURRENTLY UNDERTAKING?
The permissions and conditions for using published in the VILNIUS TECH journals articles are determined in a simple, standardized way. All articles are being published under CC-BY 4.0 licence which permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original author and source are credited. This is the most accommodating of licenses. So authors can reproduce the information of their manuscript in their doctoral thesis only after the article will be published online. A prerequisite is to precisely identify not only the author but also the original source. As part of our open access model, we allow all published articles to be deposited immediately upon publication in authors’ institutions repositories, their personal websites, Researchgate, and so on. This type of publishing fully fulfils the recommendations of Horizon 2020 Programme and best practice publishing requirements for Open Access.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO CITE FUNDING IN RESEARCH
Funding is a crucial part of any researcher’s career, particularly in academia. Funding can come from a variety of sources, including research councils, charities, governing bodies and from industry. It isn’t always obvious for people outside of the research group to know where the research money has come from. The funding should be acknowledged in an acknowledgements section, because a reader (if this is of interest to it) has to know where the funding has come from and funding bodies have to know which grants of theirs have been used to deliver successful publications. The funding agencies should be written out in full, followed by the grant number.
DOES ARTICLE PROCESSING CHARGES (APC) INCLUDES VAT?
The majority of the cost of publication is funded by Article Publication Charges (APCs) paid by authors or their institutes. All prices are exclusive of VAT. Article processing charges (APCs) are subject to VAT at the standard Lithuanian VAT rate of 21%. According to the laws of Lithuania we must include the tax if the persons are payer and only for institution from EU countries tax could be excluded.
