SCIENTIFIC JOURNALS
VILNIUS TECH is one of the most advanced academic publishers in Lithuania, with a long tradition of publishing that meets the high standards of modern academic publishing. The University is a member of Crossref, the International DOI Foundation's digital object identifier registration agency, and a member of The Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers (ALPSP) and the Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (OASPA).
The University publishes scientific journals, conference proceedings, research and study publications, and doctoral dissertations in print and digital editions. All publications are peer-reviewed and edited. Innovations in the publishing process, which are important for science communication, as well as the use of advanced technologies, ensure the high quality of peer-reviewed scientific journals and other publications.
The metadata of the published digital content is registered in the Digital Object Identifier registry, where the scientific output is given a Digital Object Identifier (DOI), which ensures the longevity of hypertext links, the continued discoverability of content in the digital space, and the long-term dissemination of scientific output.
The University publishes sixteen peer-reviewed scientific journals: eight in the physical and technological sciences, five in the social sciences, and three multidisciplinary. It uses the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform to publish scientific journals. Some journals use the ScholarOne Manuscripts platform for their peer review process. The University follows the principles of transparency and best-practising guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) for publishing scientific journals. The University is proud that seven VILNIUS TECH journals have already become COPE members.
All journals follow the policies of the VILNIUS TECH journals. More explicit information is presented on the web page of each journal.
All scientific journals are published using the Open Access model, which provides free access to and use of scientific output. As of 2018, all articles are published under a CC-BY 4.0 licence.
Taking into account the needs of modern science communication, all efforts are made to speed up the publication of articles accepted after a peer review. The journals follow a continuous publishing model, in which articles are published immediately, without waiting for the full issue to be completed. Support for the Initiative for Open Citations (I4OC) helps to promote collaboration between academic publishers to ensure the widest possible availability of scientific citation data.
All published articles are transferred to the digital archives of Portico, CLOCKSS and LOCKSS to ensure the long-term preservation of digital content.
VILNIUS TECH journals are referenced in various databases, of which ten journals are indexed in the Web of Science (WoS) database (7 journals have a Journal Impact Factor (JIF) citation index, and 3 journals are in the WoS Emerging Sources Citation Index database), and 13 journals are indexed in the SCOPUS database.
