New doctoral dissertation
VILNIUS TECH Library invites you to follow the published new dissertations. The dissertation „Representative character of Vilnius squares“ prepared by VILNIUS TECH, Gintautas Tiškus, is presented in Lithuanian. The dissertation was prepared in 2014–2022, supervisors – Assoc. Prof. Dr Vytautas PETRUŠONIS.
The dissertation was defended at the public meeting of the Dissertation Defence Council of Scientific field of History and Theory of Arts in the Senate Hall of Vilnius Gediminas Technical University at 1 p. m. on 19 May 2022.
„Changes in the ideology and socio-cultural context are reflected in city squares selected for representation. As more urban squares reconstructed or redeveloped, the results are criticised for their non-cultural characteristics. The dissertation examined the concept of the representative square, prepared the methodology for the analysis of public squares, mainly focusing on the developed model of their characteristics distinguishing the essential characteristics and investigating their interrelationships and interaction. The analysis of public squares is based on four aspects of their characteristics: structural, social, cultural and psychological. The disertation established the representative character of the analysed squares“
