New doctoral dissertation
VILNIUS TECH Library invites you to follow the published new dissertations. The dissertation „Improvement of environmental and energy performance of spark ignition engine working on biogas“ („Biodujomis veikiančio kibirkštinio uždegimo variklio ekologinių ir energinių rodiklių gerinimas“) prepared by VILNIUS TECH, Donatas Kriaučiūnas. The dissertation was prepared in 2017–2022, supervisor – Assoc. Prof. Dr Saugirdas Pukalskas.
The dissertation was defended at the public meeting of the Dissertation Defense Council of Transport Engineering in the Senate Hall of Vilnius Gediminas Technical University at 10 a. m. on 31 August 2022.
„Biogas is a potential solution to reduce the usage of fossil fuels and related pollution by alternative fuels, waste management, fertilizers, and electricity generation. It can replace some of the fossil fuels used in the transport and energy sectors and reduce global greenhouse gas emissions. The dissertation aimed to evaluate the potential and suitability of biogas for use in an internal combustion engine, to plan and perform a spark-ignition engine working on biogas and biogas-hydrogen mixtures research and to analyze the combustion process. Biogas was tested in three different spark-ignition engines at different parameters of load and control characteristics. The numerical modeling evaluated the combustion process parameters and the experimental test data was supplemented with the modeling results.“
