US Embassy and LMFA invites students to take part in a video competition
This year, to mark the 84th anniversary of the Sumner Welles Declaration, the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (LMFA), together with the US Embassy, is inviting pupils and students in grades 9 to 12 to take part in an Instagram short video competition. Choose your favourite topic and send us a 30-60 second authentic and original video by 23 July 2024.

- Democracy: rights and responsibilities
- Why is it important to study history?
- U.s. and lithuanian relations before 1990
- Freedom and responsibility of speech
- How do i nurture democratic values?
Competition rules:
- the competition runs from 3 June to 23 July 2024;
- participation is open to students in grades 9-12 living in Lithuania and undergraduate students;
- the video must be shot vertically, in 9:16 aspect ratio, with a minimum resolution of 720 pixels, in Lithuanian or English. The language must be civilised and non-offensive;
The winners will be announced and the prizes will be awarded in September this year.
Main judging criteria: presentation of the theme, originality of presentation, creativity, fluency of language.
By entering the competition, participants agree that the videos they produce may be published.
The three winners selected by the jury in each category will be awarded prizes:

- 1st place - "Gopro" cameras,
- 2nd prize - "Kindle" readers,
- 3rd prize - "Canva" subscription.
Participants will be judged in three age categories: 9-10th grade, 11-12th grade, students.
Contestants acknowledge that their produced reel content may be made public.
