Research Institute of Building Structures was found in Nowember 2013. Director of the institute is prof. habil. dr. Gintaris Kaklauskas. Research Institute of Building Structures has two departments:
- Research laboratory of Innovative Building Structures (head – dr. Viktor Gribniak);
- Research laboratory of Geotechnical Engineering (head – prof. dr. Arnoldas Norkus).

- Long-term processes in concrete;
- Fracture mechanics of concrete;
- High temperature effect on the mechanical properties of building structures;
