BIP week at the Faculty of Mechanics
Blended Intensive Programmes (BIP) are short and intensive training programmes, including online cooperation by combining physical mobility with a virtual part, and promoting and using innovative ways of learning and teaching, research-based and challenge-based learning.
On 08-12 April, the Faculty of Mechanics hosted 3 BIP programmes:
"Smart Sensors and Smart Materials"
This module was for students who want to learn about the application of sensors in practice. During the programme, participants immersed themselves into industrial sensors codding and learnt the basics. They had opportunity to learn how sensors could be used with new materials. The module consisted of theoretical lectures, zoom lectures and laboratory works. In the end participants presented their works.
"Sustainable use of non-destructive systems and materials"
This module was for students who were interested in materials engineering. Participants learnt about the fundamentals of materials science, non-destructive systems and sustainable use of materials. The module taught practical applications of different types of welding equipment using reusable materials. The module consisted of theoretical lectures and laboratory work, and to consolidate the knowledge, the participants in the BIP programme made presentations.
Lecturers who came with the students also had the opportunity to learn about "Application of non-destructive systems and materials". The experience of different teaching methods, approaches and cultures enriched the teachers professional knowledge.
42 students from Romania, Poland, Latvia, Portugal and Turkey attended in BIP! Such international programmes attracting foreign students, allow to promote VILNIUS TECH, to create long-term student exchange opportunities, to involve teachers in international projects, lectures and research. By inviting students from other countries, we promote international relationship, where students are involved in projects and activities without having to travel to foreign countries.
BIP week gave participants the opportunity to build academic links, interact in an academic and informal environment, and discuss opportunities for joint activities. In addition to visiting the Faculty's laboratories and classrooms, the participants of the BIP week had the opportunity to get to know the capital city better by visiting the Money museum and the Energy and Technology museum
