Wireless (Wi-Fi) network
WIRELESS (Wi-Fi) NETWORK
All the university buildings have a wireless (Wi-Fi) network. Its access points are located in streaming audiences, building lounges, and other campuses. There are 2 campus-based Wi-Fi networks with names (SSIDs) for “VGTU” and “Eduroam”. Local wireless networks can operate at the university's premises.
“VGTU” SSID wireless network
The “VGTU” wireless network is for VGTU employees only. It provides access to all IT services, available through the campus's computer network. You can connect to a VGTU wireless network using the same user ID and password.
“Eduroam” Wi-Fi network
Eduroam allows any user from an eduroam participating site to get network access at any institution connected to eduroam. Depending on local policies at the visited institutions, eduroam participants may also have additional resources at their disposal.
The Eduroam wireless network is intended for students and other academic members who arrive at VGTU. This network is also available to VGTU staff. The goal of the Eduroam (educational roaming) project is to provide academic institutions with a convenient, secure and flexible access to the Internet for learning purposes. Eduroam gives users a unified authentication option - a member of the academic institution can use the same user identification code to add to its end @ vgtu.lt and use the password used by its academic institution for additional registration without the need to connect to another institution's wireless network.
During the events (seminars, conferences) the participants of the event VGTU guests - can use the university's wireless network. Event organizers must contact the VGTU Information Technology and Systems Center for at least 3 days before the event and provide the necessary information (name, location, related web links, expected number of participants, when and when to be able to access the wireless network, etc.). . The person responsible for the event will receive guest login information, which will be required to pass on to the event participants, university guests. With these login details, you can use the wireless network at the venue.
