History

The Department of Construction Technology and Management from 1970

The Department of Construction Technology and Management in the period from 1970 to 2011

The Department of Construction Technology and Management originated, when the Construction Technology Department was established soon after the end of World War 2, in 1947, in the former Kaunas University.

Later, until 1969-09-01, it was the Department of Construction Technology and Work Organization in Kaunas Polytechnic Institute. This department trained industrial and civil engineers. V. Grincevičius was the head of the Department (until March 1, 1956), while dr, assoc. prof. P. Viliūnas (until September 1, 1962) and dr, assoc. prof. E. Borkauskas was the head of the Department until its elimination on September 1, 1969.

The independent Department of Construction Technology was established at the Construction Faculty of Vilnius Civil Engineering Institute on September 1, 1970. The first head of the Department of Construction Technology was Doctor of Technical Sciences Viktoras Krušinskas.

Information

Prof. dr. Klaus Holschemacher from Leipzig University of Applied Sciences (HTWK Leipzig, Germany) visited the Construction Management and Real Estate Department and Institute of Sustainable Construction on November 2, 2017.

International cooperation opportunities in the fields of science and studies were discussed during the meeting.

Cooperation between VGTU and HTWK Leipzig began 30 years ago and resulted in international exchange of staff and students, lectures, joint conferences and scientific results. This is one of the first international partners of the VGTU with whom the international cooperation agreement was signed (earlier it was called Leipzig Technical University, Germany).
