About department
Education and research in urban design in Lithuania is represented by the Department of Urban Design. Department that has nearly 70 years of history - it was founded in 1944, the first head of the department was Associate Professor Steponas Stulginskis. Department attitude guidelines comply with European concepts of urban design subject. Urban design is treated as a branch of architecture, whose main research and design fields are urban structure, urban space and build up area (buildings) creating it. Urban design is an integral part of architectural arts and it is an education integral part of the architectural activities.
Professors of Department of Urban Design are teaching students at undergraduate studies (B.Arch) program. Knowledge in the field of urban studies could be deepened at postgraduate studies (M.Arch.).
Department of Urban Design trains professionals at three levels of qualification: Bachelor, Master of Arts and PhD.
