About department

Law department is one of six departments at Vilnius Gediminas Technical University Business Management faculty.

Since 1993 a discipline of Law was introduced in all study programs as a compulsory subject therefore these specialized disciplines were introduced in Bachelor studies: Copyright Law, Law, Fundamentals of Law, Business Law, Contract Law, Informatics Law, Construction and Territory Planning Law, Fundamentals of International Private Law. Contract Law and Business Law are also discoursed in Master studies.

A collective of qualified specialists, practitioner-lawyers, scientist and lecturers formed during the existence of Law department. They all attempt to share their knowledge with students, introduce them with basics and subtleties of the study subject.

Today at Law department works: 3 associate professors; 5 lecturers, 1 assistant.
The aim of Law Department is to introduce students with law system in Lithuania, educate understanding about legal state and simulate to follow the acts and principals of law in their everyday life after the end of studies.

Consultation on legal issues.
Preparation of legal documentation.
Arbitration service.

History

The Department of Law was established in 1993.
The first head of this department was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Juozas Sidaravičius.
After him the head of the department was assigned Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kazimieras Liudvikas Valančius.
Since 2002, Prof. Dr. Sigitas Mitkus has been the Head of the Department of Law.
Since 2021, Prof. Dr. Darijus Beinoravičius has been the Head of the Law Department.
Since 2023, the position of Head of the Department of Law has been held by Doc. Dr. Raimonda Bublienė.

Law department promotes vision of Vilnius Gediminas Technical University to become the most progressive technical university in Baltic countries that unifies science, studies and business while creating innovative society.
Law Department does researches related with business legal environment. There are used traditional and innovative methods for the research. Expected results of these researches:
