Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) „THE KEY TO BUSINESS SUCCESS – TIMED PROJECT“

From April 14 to May 2, 2025, the Business Technology and Entrepreneurship Department at the VILNIUS TECH Faculty of Business Management (FBM) organised an international Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) under the theme “The Key to Business Success – Timed Project.”

The programme brought together students from the Bucharest University of Economic Studies (Romania), Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (Poland), the Technical University of Gabrovo (Bulgaria), the Transport and Telecommunication Institute (Latvia), and VILNIUS TECH.
The aim of the BIP was to strengthen students' competencies in project management, sustainability, strategic thinking, and teamwork. During the online part of the programme, held from April 14 to 23, students attended lectures delivered by international experts on relevant project management topics, including:
  • Application of hybrid project management methods in the project initiation phase – Laura Lazzerini Neuwirth (Italy/Czech Republic)

  • The interaction between product management and project management – Jesse Fewell (USA)

  • Integrating sustainability into project management – Edoardo Favari (Italy)

  • Project leadership, personal growth, and team transformation – Alejandra Nazar Kafaty (Honduras)

From April 28 to May 2, participants arrived at the Business Management Faculty at VILNIUS TECH, where they attended thematic lectures, creative workshops, a visit to the VILNIUS TECH Sustainability Centre, a cultural tour of Vilnius Old Town, and social activities.
The programme culminated in a two-day hackathon, during which students worked in international teams to develop solutions focused on sustainability, innovation, and business transformation. The hackathon was moderated by experts from the Lithuanian Innovation Centre: Rimantas Serva, Ignas Šlapkauskas, and Linas Eriksonas. Business challenges and tasks were presented by representatives of Lithuanian companies:
  • Andrius Kurganovas, UAB “Biržų duona”

  • Kipras Uždavinys, UAB “Ustukių malūnas”

  • Mindaugas Jasiūnas, UAB “Metalistas LT”

  • Matas Laurinaitis, UAB “Jacobs Integrity Technologies”

  • Laimis Lomonosovas, “Sneaker Spot”

  • Ąžuolas L. Adlys, “House of People”

On May 1, participants enjoyed an insightful tour of Vilnius Old Town led by lecturer Giedrius Čyras from the Department of Business Technologies.
This blended intensive programme encouraged a new perspective on the study process and format, offering students a wide range of experiences. The BIP “The Key to Business Success – Timed Project” successfully combined online lectures by globally recognised experts with the development of real business solutions in a hackathon setting, supported by Lithuanian Innovation Centre representatives as consultants and experts. Throughout the programme, students faced various challenges, gained significant experience, and reported highly positive impressions. Special recognition is due to the organising team and FBM students for their excellent coordination and support. Reflections were shared by Prof. Dr. Ieva Meidutė-Kavaliauskienė, Head of the Department of Business Technologies and Entrepreneurship.
This programme serves as an excellent example of how innovative education, practical experience, and international collaboration can be integrated into a valuable learning experience. Participants not only deepened their knowledge of project management but also enhanced their teamwork, creativity, and public speaking skills, thereby strengthening their readiness for the job market.
The BIP programme was organised by:
  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alma Mačiulytė-Šniukienė, Vice-Dean for Strategic Partnerships

  • Prof. Dr. Ieva Meidutė-Kavaliauskienė, Head of the Department of Business Technologies and Entrepreneurship
