Get ready: "Makeademy" programme is back with an international summer school!
The "Makeademy" summer school dives into the process of making things. With the goal of fostering a community of aware and creative students, the "Makeademy" summer school is the place to be for creative innovators (or those aspiring to be) this summer.
The "Makeademy" program, initially launched in 2020, is now back on a broader international scale. Funded by Erasmus+ and led by the Vilnius Gediminas technical university‘s (VILNIUS TECH) Creativity and innovation centre "LinkMenu fabrikas", the program aims to innovate existing engineering study courses by developing a flexible, modular learning program centred on the Conceive, Design, Implement, Operate approach.
What will it look like?
The lectures and workshops of the "Makeademy" summer school will be based on study modules created during the project. Students will collaborate in teams with students from Aarhus University (Denmark), the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (Spain), Riga Technical University (Latvia), and the University of Palermo (Italy).
"Promoting creativity and fostering the development of innovative solutions is one of the strategic directions of VILNIUS TECH's "LinkMenu fabrikas". Therefore, our aim is to help cultivate a creative student community. During the "Makeademy" summer school, students will learn how to unleash their radical creativity, break free from traditional thinking boundaries, and solve problems innovatively," says Dr. Lina Pečiūrė, head of "Makeademy" project and director of VILNIUS TECH "LinkMenų fabrikas".
The main theme of the summer school is the secondary use of various electronic parts and other components in creating new products. With a focus on sustainability, students will learn and explore solutions for making novel products based on recycled materials.
The first week of the summer school will be conducted remotely, during which students will acquire theoretical knowledge related to rapid prototyping technologies, team management and formation, and the basics of creating a product prototype.
After this week, participants will meet in person at VILNIUS TECH's "LinkMenų fabrikas".
Students can expect teamwork, workshops, and interactive lectures that will help unleash their creative potential.
The "Makeademy" summer school will take place from July 24th to August 4th. The number of spots is limited, and the application period is open until June 30th.
