Guest lecture: The end of jobs as we know them? – Implementing Robotic Process Automation in a global shared service center
Department of Economics Engineering invitation on November 11 at 12:10. will be guest lecturer - Shaem Sieger webinar: “The end of jobs as we know them? – Implementing Robotic Process Automation in a global shared service center”.
About the lecture
After the primary and secondary sector, it is now the service economy that is ripe for maximum automation and rationalization, driven by what some authors are referring to as the “Rise of the Robots”. But will the consequences of this development be inevitably negative, pushing even academically qualified knowledge workers into a dystopian future of joblessness or the uncertainty of the gig economy? Or does it gives reason to hope for a workplace where technology helps to successfully navigate an inhumanly large amount of information, allowing workers to save their energy and potential for activities that truly make a difference? The lecture will reveal the complexities and nuances based on the experience of Western Union, which has successfully applying Robotic Process Automation for several years while remaining one of the top employers and major foreign investors in Lithuania.
About lecturer
As RPA Development Manager, Shaem is in charge of Western Union’s team of 30 RPA developers, located in Lithuania and Costa Rica. Starting as a RPA developer in what was a small team a few years ago, he helped shape the growth of the unit and transform its approach of developing RPA solutions to support a much larger team, working in small Agile “automation squads”. He is originally from Germany and moved to Lithuania in 2016.
The lecture will be in English.
Moderator is doc. dr. Viktorija Skvarciany
We kindly invite everyone to participate!
