Lecture "Entrepreneurship and Creativity"
Entrepreneurship is rife with uncertainty, randomness, and ambiguity. Navigating these waters by understanding and analyzing social and business opportunities, or environmental situations in a holistic manner is a key trait for successful entrepreneurs…and is not as easy to see, even when you’re looking right at it, as it is to review retrospectively. This lecture will highlight links between creativity and entrepreneurship, explore unconventional ideas, and may just help you sleep a little less as you contemplate your next innovation.
Dr. Stanfield is an engineer, innovator and entrepreneur, and is highly-regarded for his experience and knowledge with transforming ideas into tangible products across a wide array of industries. He has been a successful founder or co-founder of a number of companies from recreation equipment to implantable life-support. He is currently the Director of Engineering at Moog Medical Devices, a developer and manufacturer of infusion pumps for enteral feeding and intravenous drug delivery, and an adjunct Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Utah. Ryan holds PhD, MS, and BS degrees in Mechanical Engineering, an MS degree in molecular biology, and a BA degree in Japanese. He is a co-inventor on a variety of patents, co-author on a number of peer-reviewed scientific journal articles, a regular speaker on medical device research and development at universities and conferences around the globe, and a recovering adrenaline junkie.
