More than one hundred ideas registered for the business promotion project
The registration stage for the technological promotion project “Technology and Science for Innovative Business“ (TSIB) has already ended. Now one hundred and ten applications are being examined by a special business professionals‘ commission, consisting of the representatives of Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU) and Northtown Technology Park (NTP), and their partners. On May 1, the best ten projects will be announced and the winners supported while establishing technological enterprises.
The registered projects have a wide spectrum of good ideas - electronics or information technologies, as well as creation of software and innovative application of already existing products. More than a half of the students, who participated at the consultations and events, organised by VGTU and NTP, are the authors of the presented projects.
The best projects with the most promising ideas are selected by a special commission: Doctor Jelena Stankevičienė, Dean of Faculty of Business Management of VGTU, Professor Artūras Jakubavičius, Project Manager of Lithuanian Innovation Centre, Audrius Zabotka, General Director of ,,Investments and Business Guarantees“, Benas Adomavičius, Board Member of “Credit info Lithuania“ and Sigitas Besagirskas, Director of the Department of Economy and Finances of the Confederation of Lithuanian Industrialists.
According to the organisers of TSIB, almost seventy per cent of all ideas, presented for the project, correspond to the definition of the technologically innovative ones, though the suggested ways of their practical application are different enough. Some applicants presented a business plan or prototype of a product under creation, others needed more consultations for the conception and development of their ideas or planning.
The aim of the TSIB is to promote cooperation between universities, science and technology parks and formation of joint expert teams, assisting students to purify their business ideas as well as establish and develop innovative technological enterprises. During the project it is expected to establish fifty advanced and creating high value added enterprises all over Lithuania, using the European Union structural funds‘ support of 9,6 million Litas.
The project TSIB is organised by the Agency for Science, Innovation and Technology together with the partners – eight universities and eight science and technology parks.
