The UPLIFT project has released two comprehensive resources exploring how immersive technologies are shaping the future of the European tourism sector. These publications aim to equip educators, students, and tourism professionals with knowledge and examples that support the integration of digital innovation into tourism education and practice.

The Research Report on Immersive Tourism provides an overview of current trends and developments in virtual, augmented, and mixed reality, as well as artificial intelligence applications in tourism. It outlines the opportunities and challenges these technologies present for enhancing visitor experiences, promoting cultural heritage, and strengthening local tourism ecosystems.

The accompanying Best Practice Compendium highlights practical examples from across Europe, demonstrating how immersive technologies are being applied in film and literary tourism. These cases illustrate how digital tools can support creative storytelling, rural tourism development, and sustainable visitor engagement.

Together, these resources contribute to UPLIFT’s broader mission of promoting innovation, collaboration, and digital readiness in the tourism sector.
