Webometrics: Lithuanian Universities Retain Their Ranking
The leading universities of Lithuania retain their ranking according to the latest data from Webometrics.
The rating, covering 20,000 higher education institutions worldwide, provides results for the second half of the year 2014. Vilnius University (VU) ranks first among the top five universities of Lithuania and 681st (lowering from 644th) in the Webometrics ranking. Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU) retains its second position among the Lithuanian universities and ranks 1034th (lowering from 979th) in the Webometrics. Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) is in the third position and ranks 1880th (lowering from 1817th) accordingly. Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) and KlaipÄ—da University (KU) are 2134th and 2279th respectively. Forty-four higher education institutions of Lithuania have been rated by the Webometrics.
The Webometrics Ranking of World Universities system is based on the analysis of the global performance and visibility of the universities, which is performed every six months. Evaluation includes link analysis, electronic access to scientific publications and other academic material, citation frequency, and it is performed by the Cybermetrics Lab established by the Spanish National Research Council.
