Department of Creative Communication
The objective of the Department of Creative Communication is to embed and extend the role and importance of the creative industries in today's creative society and the modern economy.
Since ideas remain the driving force behind social and economic development, the creative industries are an integral part of a 'creative economy'. Activities that form part of the creative economy include, among others: management practices in the arts and culture, communication, marketing and advertising, media production, and project management.
Our focus is to bring together a vibrant, intellectually inquisitive, and professionally engaged community of specialists who are looking for ways to implement their ideas. Our interest in the theory and practice of the creative industries and communication informs our study programs, research projects, and innovation activities.

History
A first in Lithuania
Vilnius Gediminas Technical University was the first to launch the studies of Creative Industries in Lithuania in 2008. Creative Industries study program is the first full profile first-cycle university studies program in Lithuania, aimed at the development of creative communication projects management specialists. Creative Industries study program, in comparison with programs in the direction of communication implemented by other universities, is interdisciplinary – the communication-business study subjects concord with the addition of IT application.

Study programs
he Creative Industries programme is aimed at training the specialists of creative industries in media and applied creativity sectors, such as advertising, marketing, public relations, multimedia, television, cinema, press and etc. It develops students' ability to implement creative ideas by carrying out research, writing and editing the scenarios of various programmes and events, preparing and implementing media projects and distributing creative products and services.
In 2008, UNCADT (United Nations Conference on Trade and Development) defined creative industries as the cycles of creation, production and distribution of goods and services at the cross-road among the artisan, services and industrial sectors. The career prospects of the graduates of the Creative Industries programme are as follows: the development of the services and products in the media (i.e., press, cinema, television, radio and new media) and creative services (i.e., advertising, tourism and digital creative services) subgroups of the creative industries sector, especially in audio-visual one. This particularly refers to the new media (i.e., creative software, creative digital content, computer games, social media, such as blogs, web encyclopaedias, digital content exchange, etc.) and creative services (i.e., advertising, business fairs and exhibitions, market studies, R&D services and cultural and recreational services). Creative services are also becoming increasingly important to the enterprises in the traditional agricultural sector.

Communication of Creative Society – University second cycle (graduate, Master's) studies. The program, which is dedicated to the knowledge acquired during the bachelor's studies in social sciences and the ability to expand the cultural and creative aspects of communication, graduates will be able to fully develop and improve creativity in society.
Communication of Creative Society program gives students knowledge about communication processes and tendencies in the context of cultural development.
It gives the ability to organize and develop creative activities considering the development and priorities of a creative society and highlights the importance of the social environment to creativity.

Communication in Innovation and Technology - University second cycle (Master's) study program. The need for Lithuanian businesses to present their activities and innovations has become an important reason for training Master of Innovation and Technology communication specialists.
Students in this Master's program will be introduced to the communication process from various positions. It will cover both the relationship between research and innovation and international networking, consumer and design research, and opportunities to get to know and adapt to innovation. Students will also study leadership, organizational management, change communication, perfect personal communication, and analysis of how it all relates to social cohesion and sustainability. After graduation, graduates can work with managers who can ensure effective internal and external communication between companies. They will also be able to work in business and state-owned enterprises, technology parks and valleys, incubators, start-ups, institutions and organizations of innovative economy and policy-making, state and municipal institutions, services and programs related to regional development.
