Studies
Since 2011, students wishing to become water management specialists have to choose Environmental Protection Engineering study program with specialization of Water Management.
Students have possibility to choose from three specializations: Environmental Protection Technologies, Environmental Protection Management or Water Management.
Study takes four years of continual studies. Name of obtained qualification is Bachelor of Environmental Engineering.
After Environmental Engineering studies Water Management specialization students are able to analyze and evaluate various global and local environmental pollution problems, different environment conditions, plan and implement engineering environment pollution prevention measures. Students have knowledge about rational water use principles and methods, design and exploitation of cold and hot water supply systems, municipal waste water and rain water drainage systems in buildings and city engineering systems. Students also have knowledge about drinking water and waste water pumping stations, drinking water and waste water treatment plants and are able to do its technical maintenance work.
Study program is supervised by two departments: Department of Water Management and Department of Hydraulics. Students have possibility to choose to do their final project according to Department of Water Management or Department of Hydraulics running projects specializations. Also some study subjects are chosen depending on theme of final project.
Study takes two years, lectures are held in the evenings. Also there is a possibility to study two and a half year in extended study mode.
Name of obtained qualification is Master of Water Engineering.
Masters of Water Management Engineering will be able to work in municipal institutions that are related with water protection and treatment, also in companies exploiting, supervising and building water management sector systems, in design and business companies or industrial enterprises.
Study programs update project
Environmental Protection Engineering study program with specialization of Water Management is updated according to project financed by European Union andLithuanianRepublic.
Project financed by European Union andLithuanianRepublic: “Update of Sustainable Environment study programs with support of innovative learning methods”. Contract No. VP1-2.2-ŠMM-07-K-01-048. Project duration: 2010-2012 year.
The aim of the project – to update five main study programs (one of them Environmental Protection Engineering with specialization of Water Management), to improve quality of the Sustainable Environment studies by increasing the international cooperation in European Union level.
In order to modernize study programs innovative learning methods is planed to be applied. Also students will get more knowledge about sustainability of the environment, the principles of its implementation, appliance of modern technologies and reduction of harmful impact on the environment.
Updated study program correspond to the legal framework ofLithuaniaand European Union and also principles of the Bologna Process. Updated study program is accredited in Study Quality Assessment Center (SQAC).
