Creative Industries Television
Creative Industries Television (KiTV) was established at the VILNIUS TECH Faculty of Creative Industries in 2018. It aims to develop students’ creativity, teamwork and problem solving skills, cross-cultural competences, as well as abilities to develop and produce serialized audiovisual content.
KiTV’s founder and manager is Aiste Ptakauske, an award-winning content creator and educator who successfully works across media and continents. She authored a collection of short stories and two best-selling novels for young adults, made two documentaries, and worked on almost 300 episodes of TV and web series in the capacity of a screenwriter, supervising producer, head writer or creator. Ethnic Kitchen, Ptakauske’s documentary about immigrant women in post-Soviet independent Lithuania, was included into the international film festival Ethnografilm as well as curricula of several universities in Europe and beyond. For her web series Little Incidents that she created for KiTV, Ptakauske received the Best Creator award at Seoul Webfest 2019.
Aiste Ptakauske holds an MA in Television-Radio-Film from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University in New York, USA, and is an alumna of the 2012 MediaXchange program "Showrunner Exchange: TV Drama, Los Angeles“, Lincoln Center Theater Directors Lab 2013, European TV Drama Lab 2018, and MIDPOINT TV Launch 2021.
At KiTV, students are regularly coached by esteemed film and television professionals from across the globe: the director of photography Arturas Kavaliauskas (Lithuania), the composer and sound designer Douglas Quin (USA), the camerawoman and director Muriel Aboulrouss (Lebanon), Prof. Dr. Eva Stadler (Germany), et al.
