“A Diploma Is an Empowerment to Build Lithuania”: VILNIUS TECH Bids Farewell to the Creators of Tomorrow

Here you'll find photos of the ceremony.

A formal diploma award ceremony took place at VILNIUS TECH, during which more than two hundred creators of tomorrow were sent off after successfully completing their Bachelor’s and Master’s degree studies. During the celebration, twenty diplomas with honours as well as fifteen Magna Cum Laude and Cum Laude diplomas were awarded.

Opening the ceremony, VILNIUS TECH Rector Romualdas Kliukas congratulated the graduates, emphasising not only the academic community’s pride in their achievements but also the importance of the skills acquired at the university: a diploma is only part of what young professionals take with them upon graduating.

“You leave the university with more than a profession and a diploma. You take with you knowledge, creativity, openness to the world, and the ability to overcome the most complex challenges. Do not drift away from your Alma Mater. I would like to invite you to return to the university – Bachelor’s graduates to choose Master’s studies, and Master’s graduates to pursue doctoral studies. Once you gain professional experience, you will be welcome back as social partners, lecturers, and patrons,” the Rector encouraged.

Mindaugas Statulevičius, President of the Lithuanian Real Estate Development Association (LNTPA) and a VILNIUS TECH alumnus, wished the graduates success in creating the cities and Lithuania of the future in his inspiring congratulatory address:

“A diploma is not the finish line – it is both empowerment and a commitment to be active and responsible. You will create the cities of the future and the future of Lithuania, taking responsibility for how we will live in twenty or fifty years. You will build cities that stand not for decades, but for centuries and millennia. Today marks the moment when your acquired theoretical knowledge turns into practice that you will be required to apply in your professional lives.

We are living in an extraordinary time, when certainty may exist only in today, and tomorrow may not come. Therefore, we must remain strong, united, and work towards a common goal – this is where your knowledge will serve us best,” the guest speaker said.

Lukas Miknevičius, a Creative Industries graduate who completed his studies with honours, encouraged representatives of his generation to be not only digital, but also courageous citizens who are unafraid to express their opinions and stand up for truth.

“Our generation is often called digital, but I would very much like to inspire everyone to be a courageous generation – one that is not afraid to voice its opinion, to go out, gather in protests, and let free speech be heard,” the graduate said.

In his speech, he also emphasised the importance of freedom and truth in creativity and communication: “Communication without truth is merely manipulation, and creativity without freedom is nothing more than a craft of servitude. I wish you never to lose the creative hunger and the courage you have built up until today.”
