Representatives of the Kyrgyzstan Education Sector Visit the Faculty of Transport Engineering
On the 13th of January, a delegation from the education sector of the Kyrgyzstan Republic visited the Plytinė‘s Campus of Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VILNIUS TECH). The visit took place within the framework of the European Union’s Twinning programme project “Promoting Inclusive and STEAM Education in Kyrgyzstan Schools.” During the visit, the guests learned about VILNIUS TECH’s experience in STEAM education and discussed potential areas of cooperation.
The delegation was led by the Vice Mayor of Bishkek, Viktoriya Mozgacheva. She was accompanied by Rakhat Ishenbekovna Musaeva, Director of the Kyrgyzstan Department of Education, as well as heads of educational and specialized institutes, school principals, and their deputies.
Particular attention during the meeting was given to admission opportunities at VILNIUS TECH for international students. It was noted that candidates holding a national secondary education certificate are eligible to apply for bachelor’s degree studies, and that admission requirements are adapted for international applicants. The possibility of students from Kyrgyzstan obtaining a double degree, with part of their studies completed in Lithuania, was also discussed.
During the visit, the guests toured the facilities of the Faculty of Transport Engineering and the Transport Engineering and Logistics Laboratory. The delegation also visited the Faculties of Electronics and Mechanics, where they became acquainted with modern infrastructure for practical studies and scientific research.
According to Prof. Dr. Oleg Prentkovskis, Dean of the Faculty of Transport Engineering, such visits are extremely important for strengthening international academic cooperation and contributing to the development of STEAM education initiatives in Kyrgyzstan.
The meeting was also attended by VILNIUS TECH Rector Prof. Dr. Romualdas Kliukas, Vice-Rector for Studies Assoc. Prof. Dr. Živilė Sederavičiūtė Pačiauskienė, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanics Assoc. Prof. Dr. Justinas Gargasas, Vice-Dean for Studies of the Faculty of Electronics Dr. Martynas Šapurov, and Director of the International Studies Centre Dovilė Jodenytė.
