University Steps Challenge: 6,500+ Steps a Day for VILNIUS TECH

Do you know how many steps you take each day? What if those steps could bring victory to our university? Let’s join the University Steps Challenge and prove that VILNIUS TECH moves — and wins!

From September 16 to 22, together with the rest of Europe, we’ll celebrate European Mobility Week — and we invite you to take part in the University Steps Challenge.

The challenge is simple, yet ambitious: Walk 400,000 steps over two months, which is around 6,500+ steps per day. The World Health Organization recommends 10,000 steps daily, so this is a great and achievable way to start living more actively.

We’ll begin counting steps for VILNIUS TECH on September 16, and finish on November 16.

This is a great opportunity to show that the VILNIUS TECH community is active, united, and ready to choose more sustainable ways to move. Sustainability is one of our key values. Plus, you'll strengthen your community ties and enjoy a bit of friendly competition – who will walk more?

Joining is easy:
  1. Download the Walk15 app
  2. Register and go to “Challenges”
  3. Choose the “University Steps Challenge”
  4. Find and join the team: VILNIUS TECH
Right now, we’re just 130 participants – but our competitors are catching up. We can do better – there are around 1,700 staff, 9,000 students, and 90,000 alumni. Once you're in, invite your colleagues, students, and friends to follow your example!

Those who reach the goal will receive a virtual certificate in the Walk15 app. And more – the three most active universities in Lithuania and the community with the highest step average will be invited to an awards ceremony at the Presidential Palace. The University Steps Challenge is part of the National Mobility Challenge, initiated by President of the Republic of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda and organized together with the global walking app Walk15, now in its fifth year.

Only 4 days left until the challenge begins – get ready!
