Research and innovation
Department International Economics and Management - division of the Vilnius Gediminas technical University currying out scientific research of various purpose and broad range of topics.
Scientific specialization of the Department of international economics and management is the processes of internationalization of social economic development, cultura, scientific and technological advance, the processes of globalization, European integration, and economic aspects of the enlargement of the European Union, also fostering of innovative activities and solving of economic and management problems in high technology sector, regarding challenges of knowledge economy creation in the global context.
Department International Economics and Management supports with scientific research various university studies of engineering, management and economic profile at the in Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, also meets the needs of various companies, organisations and institutions.
Scientific research fields of the Department of International Economics and Management are adequate to the profile and specialization of the department and covers following topics:

Fostering of innovation and science and technology advancement and creation of knowledge economy in social and economic space of the European Union,
- Internationalization processes creating the knowledge economy and developing the high technology sector,
- Improvement of international relations management,
- Improvement of international marketing in the context of the needs of competitiveness raising in international markets,
- Transformation processes in the Central and Eastern Europe with priorities of innovation activities and enlargement of the European Union.
Department of International economics and Management prepared during its activity period about 200 various courses. 800 bachelors and 500 master students have prepared their final thesis in the department. Graduated 11 PhD’s. More than 20 monographs, textbooks, scientific books and other publications, 300 scientific articles are published more than 100 scientific works in international and Lithuanian scientific conferences are presented.
Many professor of the department are members of international scientific organisations.
Scientific and other events periodically are organised.
Scientific seminar in International economy and management periodically is organised in the department.
Many professor of the department participate in international conferences, symposiums and other scientific events, committees and editorial boards by VGTU and other Lithuanian and foreign universities.
Department actively participate in organisation and leading of periodical conferences “Business and management” and other events organised by VGTU Business Management faculty.
Relations with foreign universities, research centres
Department of International economics and management initiated and maintains cooperation with foreign universities and research centres. At the moment department cooperates actively with following foreign partners:
- Uuniversity of Latvia
- Ryga technical university
- Bratislava university of Economics, Slovakia
- High School of technology and economics, Berlin, Germany
- High School of technology, economics and culture, Leipzig, Germany
Cooperation with social partners
Department International Economics and Management initiated and maintains cooperation with social partners. At the moment department cooperates actively with following social partners:
- Lithuanian Innovation Centre
- Association of Public Administration Fraining institutions
- West-Express companies network
Department cooperates in various forms with different institutions and organisations in foreign countries also with ministries of the Republic of Lithuania, with other institutions, with Lithuanian business organisations and companies.
International economics and business department participates in projects implemented by VGTU business management department. In year 2010-2011 department participated in project “ Creation of integrated business process simulation system for interdisciplinary management and business administration studies” financed by EU structural funds.

9th International Scientific Conference "Business and Management 2016"

We would like to invite you to participate in the 9th International Scientific Conference “Business and Management 2016” that will be organized in the Faculty of Business Management at Vilnius Gediminas Technical University on 12-13th of May, 2016. The basic objective of the conference – to bring together researchers, scientists for a corporate scientific discussion about the ongoing changes in economics and management occurring throughout businesses and management processes in the context of globalisation.
