About department
The objective of the Department of Creative Communication is to embed and extend the role and importance of the creative industries in today’s creative society and the modern economy.
Since ideas remain the driving force behind social and economic development, the creative industries are an integral part of a ‘creative economy’. Activities that form part of the creative economy include, among others: management practices in the arts and culture; communication; marketing and advertising; media production and project management.
Our focus is to bring together a vibrant, intellectually inquisitive and professionally engaged community of specialists who are looking for ways to implement their ideas. Our interest in the theory and practice of the creative industries and communication informs our study programmes, research projects and innovation activities.
Our research is cross-disciplinary and highly diverse, the main fields comprising, Sociology, Management and administration, Philosophy, Art criticism, and Educational studies.
