Logistics with an ELA Certificate – When a Degree Opens Doors Across the EU
As supply chains grow in importance and the logistics sector strengthens its role in Europe’s economy, employers are increasingly looking for professionals who not only have a solid education but also meet international standards. One such standard is the European Logistics Association (ELA) certificate, which gives students a real competitive edge in the job market. In Lithuania, this path is offered through the Business Logistics bachelor’s programme at the Faculty of Business Management, Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VILNIUS TECH).
In Lithuania, the logistics sector makes up around 12% of GDP – more than double the EU average. Companies are becoming more involved in international supply chains and seek employees who can operate not only in Lithuania but also with foreign partners. Major Lithuanian logistics companies highlight that today’s logistics professionals must be able to use management systems, analyse data, communicate in several languages, and think strategically.
The ELA certificate is an official recognition that a specialist meets the highest professional standards in European logistics. It is accepted in all EU countries, which means graduates of the VILNIUS TECH Business Logistics programme are competitive not only in Lithuania but also in Germany, the Netherlands, Scandinavia, and across Europe.
“The ELA certificate is not just an add-on to a diploma – it proves that a student can apply knowledge in practice, understands processes, and is able to work in an international business logistics environment,” says Prof. Dr. Ieva Meidutė-Kavaliauskienė, head of the Business Logistics programme.
The VILNIUS TECH Business Logistics bachelor’s programme is focused on practical skills – students not only study theory but also work with real supply chain management systems, take part in simulations, internships, and project-based activities. The programme is developed in close cooperation with business partners, ensuring it meets real labour market needs.
According to university data, about 89.6% of graduates find employment within six months, while many receive offers even before finishing their studies. Graduates pursue careers not only in Lithuania but also in international trade, manufacturing, and transport companies – some go on to build their own businesses.
“Our goal is not only to provide knowledge but also to help students gain international recognition. The ELA certificate opens the door to a broader professional world,” adds the professor.
Studying with an ELA certificate means preparing for a global career while still at university. For young people, this is not just about earning a degree, but about achieving a professional status recognised throughout Europe. For those seeking studies that are not only “safe” but also strategically smart, Business Logistics stands out as a strong choice.
