  • DIGITAL BADGE TYPES

    A DIGITAL BADGE is a secure and reliable technology that recognizes and validates diverse achievements. When a badge is issued, its image automatically records metadata about the recipient, issuer, date of issue, accomplishments, completed tasks, and the organizations verifying the badge.

    VILNIUS TECH digital badges are structured into four levels: Participation, Activity, Meta, and UBER.

    • The easiest badges to earn are Participation badges, which are awarded for taking part in events organized by faculties and the university, such as conferences, guest lectures, company visits, workshops, and other activities.
    • After earning at least two Participation badges, learners can progress to the next level and receive an Activity badge, which recognizes a higher level of engagement and commitment.
    • To earn a Meta badge, a learner must collect the required number of Activity badges within a specific competency area.
    • The highest level of recognition is the UBER badge. It is awarded to individuals who have earned the required number of Meta badges and demonstrated exceptional dedication, achievement, and competency development. UBER badge  recipients are recognized not only with a digital badge, but also with a physical badge and a special award from the university.

  • 1. What is a digital badge?

    A digital badge is a verified, secure and easily shareable digital credential that demonstrates the competences, activities or achievements a student has acquired. It includes information about the activity, date, assessment criteria, competences and the issuing institution.

  • 2. How to Set Up Your Account Correctly?

    Important! When registering on Badge Wallet, use your VILNIUS TECH email address and enter your full name exactly as it appears in official university records.

    Lithuanian students should use Lithuanian characters, while international students should enter their name in the Latin alphabet as shown in their official documents.

    Your name is automatically displayed on all issued digital badges, certificates, and competency portfolios, so please ensure that it is entered correctly.

  • 3. How to Add an Additional Email Address?

    If you have been collecting badges using a different email address, please sign in to your account and follow these steps:

    1. Go to your profile.
    2. Select Settings.
    3. Click Set Primary Email.
    4. In the window that opens, select Add Email and add your VILNIUS TECH email address.

  • 4. How can I obtain a digital badge?

    Digital badges are issued either by scanning a QR code or directly via email to the address associated with your Badge Wallet account in the Badge Wallet app or on the Badgecraft platform.

    By clicking on a badge that contains a mission, you can view not only its description but also the tasks that must be completed to earn it. Clicking on a higher-level badge allows you to see the lower-level badges required to obtain it and track your progress toward earning it.*

    You can earn digital badges by:

    • Participating in events*;
    • Engaging in extracurricular activities such as volunteering, student clubs, mentoring, and other non-formal learning opportunities;
    • Collecting the required number of lower-level badges to qualify for META and UBER badges and successfully completing the reflection question or task associated with the badge.

    * Digital badges are not awarded at all events.

    ** Requirements for earning higher-level badges may vary depending on the badge programme.

  • 5. Where can I earn participation badges?

    Digital badges may be created only for open activities intended for students that go beyond regular lectures. They are not awarded for scheduled study lectures included in the timetable.

    This includes:

    • Guest lectures by business representatives (company guests, industry experts, alumni);

    • Lectures delivered by visiting academic staff (from other universities in Lithuania or abroad);

    • Research events (seminars, research presentations, discussions, project results sessions);

    • Career events (practical sessions, workshops, meetings with employers);

    • International events (foreign lecturers, partner visits, BIP activities);

    • Company visits.

  • 6. How to Submit Badge Evidence?

    Some digital badges require you to provide evidence demonstrating that you have completed the required activity or achieved the learning outcomes.

    To submit evidence:

    1. Open the badge mission in Badge Wallet or on the Badgecraft platform.
    2. Complete the required tasks and upload the requested evidence (e.g., documents, photos, links, presentations, reports, or other materials).
    3. Submit your evidence for review.
    4. Once approved by the badge issuer, the digital badge will be awarded to your account.

    The specific evidence requirements vary depending on the badge and are described in the badge mission.

  • 7. Who verifies the badge evidence?

    Depending on the activity, badge evidence may be verified by:

    • faculties;

    • administrative units;

    • project leaders;

    • the Students’ Union (SA);

    Each digital badge clearly indicates the approving authority.

  • 8. What's the Difference Between Competency Portfolios and Certificates?

    Both certificates and competency portfolios are issued based on VILNIUS TECH digital badges, but they serve different purposes.

    Certificates provide detailed information about the digital badges earned within a specific badge programme. They include badge descriptions and explain the activities, achievements, and competencies recognized by each badge. Certificates are useful for demonstrating participation and accomplishments in a particular area of activity.

    Competency Portfolio provide a broader overview of the competencies developed through participation in various extracurricular and non-formal learning activities. Instead of focusing on individual badges, they summarize the competencies a student has acquired across different experiences and can be issued as a supplementary document alongside the diploma.

    In short:

    • Certificates show which badges you earned and why.
    • Competency Portfolios show which competencies you developed and can demonstrate.
  • 9. Do employers recognise digital badges?

    An increasing number of organizations, including Google, IBM, and European universities, recognize digital badges as a credible way to verify skills and achievements.

    Each VILNIUS TECH digital badge contains:

    • Information about the completed activity;
    • The competencies developed;
    • The requirements and conditions for earning the badge;
    • Supporting evidence of achievement.

    This allows employers and other stakeholders to quickly verify and better understand your competencies and accomplishments.

  • 10. Why is it worth collecting digital badges?
    • Strengthen your CV and help you stand out in the job market;

    • Support the creation of a personal competence portfolio;

    • Confirm soft skills such as leadership, communication and initiative;

    • Demonstrate active involvement in University life;

    • Help you prepare your CV, motivation letters and job interviews.

  • 11. Can I lose a digital badge?

    No. Even if you delete the email, the badge remains saved in your profile.

  • 12. What Should I Do If I Did Not Receive a Badge?

    If you participated in an event but did not receive the digital badge, first check whether badges were issued for that particular activity.

    If badges were awarded and you still have not received yours:

    • Make sure you registered on Badge Wallet using your VILNIUS TECH email address.
    • Verify that the email address used during event registration matches the one linked to your Badge Wallet account.
    • Check your email inbox and spam folder for badge notifications.
    • Contact the event organizer or email badge@vilniustech.lt for assistance.

    When contacting us, please include the name and date of the event so that we can investigate the issue more quickly.

  • 13. How can academic or administrative staff register an event badge?

    An event badge may be registered by academic or administrative staff by completing the form no later than three days before the event.

    In the form (DIGITAL BADGE REGISTRATION – Fill out form), the following information must be provided: the event title, date, time and location; the speaker or their organisation (or visiting lecturer and their university); a short description detailing what participants did and learned; the duration of the event; two to three competences; and the name and unit of the registering person. A badge is created only when sufficient information is provided.

    The method of issuing the badge must be indicated in the form: either by QR code during the event or after the event based on the list of participants. If issuing during the event is selected, a prepared slide with a QR code will be sent by email once the badge has been created. This slide must be shown during the event or displayed at the venue. It is important to ensure that only participants who attended the event scan the badge.
