Immigration Regulations
Each student must have a passport valid for at least one year from the initial date of entry into Lithuania.
For EU/EEA full-time students
- If you are an EU citizen and have come to study legally in the Republic of Lithuania as a full time student, you must obtain a Temporary residence certificate (TRC) - a certificate confirming your right of temporary residence in the Republic of Lithuania.
- You have to submit your application and documents for the issue of the certificate in person through the Lithuanian Migration Information System (hereinafter MIGRIS). Within 4 months from the date of submission of the application and the documents within the MIGRIS, you must personally come to the chosen branch of the Migration Department and submit the original documents, biometric data and sign the application.
- Applications for EU citizens up to 16 years are be completed and submitted by one of the parents (adoptive parents) (hereinafter the parents) upon submitting identity document, or guardian (caregiver) or other legal representative, upon submitting the document certifying the guardianship (custody) or other legal representation, and the identity document.
- After reception of TRC document, you must declare your living place within 7 working days at the Municipality Office (seniūnija).

For full-time students outside EU/EEA
- Starting from 1st of July 2023 national visas D are no longer issued to full-time students arriving to study in registered and operating higher education institutions in the Republic of Lithuania. Foreigners who wish to arrive and study legally in Lithuania as a full time student will have to apply for a Temporary residence permit (TRP) instead of a national D visa.
- Temporary residence permit (TRP) can be obtained in one of the 34 VFS Global centers operating in foreign countries. Starting from 01-01-2025 Proof of means of subsistence for one year: total 7266.00 EUR (at least 519.00 EUR per month and another 1038.00 EUR as a guarantee that he will have enough funds to return to his country of origin) in your or parents bank account (minimum last 3 months original bank account statements/pay slips, etc.; in case of sponsorship - Afidavit of Sponsorship from parents/relatives and their bank account statements for minimum 3 months);
- Mediation Letter number (provided by VILNIUS TECH)
- A digital professional photo
- Non-conviction/Police clearance certificate (for first time applicants it must be issued in the country of residence before Lithuania from the past 2 years). Certificate must be legalized with an apostille or in the Ministry of Foregin Affairs and translated to Lithuanian language.
- International travel health insurance for Foreigners Staying in Lithuania, covering one year of staying abroad. Minimum coverage 30000.00 EUR.
- Contract copy of their living place/flat owners statement (if renting an appartment)/Document concerning the place of residence in the Republic of Lithuania;
- Commitment to declare the place of residence;
- You will be asked to name the countries you visited and lived in for the last 10 years (if you had a residence permit of another country you will be asked to provide an official residence address).

For students who are renting flats or staying in the hostel “Corner” this form has to be signed by the director or administrator/ flat owner.
- A valid passport or ID card;
- The document certifying your legal stay in Lithuania, received from Migration Office (D visa, TRP, EU citizens legal stay document);
