Horizon 2020 is the EU funding programme for research and innovation. It provides research and innovation funding for multi-national collaboration projects, for individual researchers and also supports SMEs with a special funding instrument.
Since 2012 Vilnius tech has participated in the programme in a number of research areas, including electronics, civil engineering, transport, the social sciences, architecture and the creative industries. This provides an excellent base for us to engage in research that solves real-life problems at the national and European level.
Vilnius tech defines and prioritises research and development conducted by its various Faculties, Departments and Institutes, and also allocates resources.
Our research personnel are supported by appropriate research management policies, which helps to ensure the success of our academic and research activities. Vilnius tech continuously improves the organizational and management structure of its research activities.
From about 1990, many new research institutes and laboratories were established across Lithuania and at Vilnius tech in particular. Currently, Vilnius tech has 13 research institutes, 3 research centres and 22 research laboratories.
On November 6, 2012 Vilnius tech’s Senate approved focus areas in: sustainable building; environmental and energy technologies; sustainable transport; mechatronics; information and communication technologies; technology management and economics; and fundamental research on materials and processes.
