VILNIUS TECH International Student Summer School - extended animation and Lithuanian Song Celebration
For the third time Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VILNIUS TECH) Faculty of Fundamental Sciences students: Bachelor of Multimedia and Computer Design and Master of Science in Digital Animation participate in the International Summer School together with international students. This year's Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programm (BIP) audiovisual workshop is "Extended Animation".
Synthesis of traditions and internationality of the Lithuanian Song Festival
This year, the workshop is dedicated to the Lithuanian Song Festival. On this occasion, VILNIUS TECH choir "Gabija" recorded 7 repertoire songs dedicated to the Song Festival, which were also used by 7 international teams. The aim of each team was to create an audiovisual piece for one of the selected songs. During the workshop, videos will be created using advanced animation technologies: motion scanning, 3D scanning, augmented and virtual reality, sound processing and generation, character automation and, of course, artificial intelligence. Sound design is also a major focus, with a large group of Masters and PhD students in sound design from the University of Porto.
The International Summer School, which started remotely in May, will bring all participants together on 24 June to continue their work at the VILNIUS TECH Creativity and Innovation Centre "LinkMenų fabrikas" and the Multimedia and Computer Aided Design Laboratory of the Faculty of Fundamental Sciences. This will bring together bachelor and master students from VILNIUS TECH Faculty of Fundamental Sciences, as well as students and lecturers from other partner institutions: the Cologne Academy of Media Arts, the Technical University of Cologne, the International Design School Cologne, the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Porto, the Art Research Laboratory - Mplab at the University of Liepaja, and the Caspar David Friedrich Institute of Greifswald University.

The organisers of the International School are the Department of Graphical Systems, Faculty of Fundamental Sciences (prof. dr. Romualdas Baušys, dr. Rytė Žiūrienė, Ernestas Čepulionis) and the conceptual leader of the programme, who brought together all the participants - the long-term partner of the Department of Graphical Systems prof. Prof. Žilvinas Lilas from the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne.
