The new anniversary 2025 Journal Citation Reports (JCR) edition and 2024 JIF values
Journal Citation Reports (JCR) is an analytical tool intended for assessing the quality of the journals indexed in the Web of Science (WoS) database’s Core Collection part. This 2025 edition marks the 50th anniversary of this prestigious global journal ranking system and is dedicated to its creator Eugene Garfield.
We are pleased to announce that the 2025 JCR edition is already released. Major highlights of this edition:
The links for accessing the list of journals with the newest JIF values are provided here >>>
The list of 2025 JCR journals will be available at Master Journal List (MJL) website in the middle of July. In order to download this and other journal lists of the WoS Core Collection indexes (SCIE, SSCI, ESCI ir AHCI), as well as of additional indexes, the sign-in with the WoS account details (or creation of WoS account) is required.
More information about WoS account and access to different WoS products is available here >>> (on the tab “Additional features”).
Both JCR tool and MJL website can also be accessed directly from the Web of Science database interface:

More information about JCR tool and its usage can be found here >>>.
With this new JCR release, a new policy for JIF calculation was implemented: starting from this year’s JCR release, citations to and from retracted content will be excluded when calculating the JIF numerator, ensuring that citations from retracted articles do not contribute to the numerical value of the JIF. However, retracted articles will still be included in the article count (JIF denominator), maintaining transparency and accountability. More detailed explanation of this policy change is available here >>>
