Scientific journals are the main means of communication and sharing of results and knowledge achieved by scientists. However, today they have also become the main tool for assessing the quality of scientific research. Therefore, in order to ensure not only targeted and wide dissemination of research results, but also to achieve greater added value in both personal and institutional research evaluation processes, choosing the right journal is not an easy task, especially considering the vast amount and variety of available journals.

To facilitate this process, we have prepared and encourage scientists to familiarize with the information and recommendations provided in the VILNIUS TECH Library website, Scientific Communication section Journal Selection for Publishing.

The main steps and criteria for journal selection and evaluation were also presented in presentation “Journal selection for publishing: Journal search and assessment” presented at the ATHENA webinar “Utilize the accessible resources wisely: journal assessment for publishing and information management using Mendeley tool”.
