Emeritus club
The goal
The club brings members together for active intellectual exchange, encourages involvement in the academic life of VILNIUS TECH, and promotes contributions to educational, cultural, scientific and social initiatives outlined in the university’s strategic plan.
The Club's Council
The club's activities are organised by a three-member council, led by a president elected from among the council members for a two-year term.

He was born in 1953 in Ukmergė.
In 1971, after graduating from Ukmergė Secondary School No. 2, he enrolled in the Faculty of Civil Engineering at VISI. He graduated with honours and obtained a degree in Civil Engineering.
In 1986, he defended his Candidate of Technical Sciences dissertation (now equivalent to a PhD) at VISI. In 1994, he defended his Habilitated Doctor dissertation at the same institution.
He taught at VISI and later at VGTU, where he obtained the academic titles of Associate Professor and Professor. From 1994 to 2011, he served as Head of the Department of Theoretical Mechanics. From 2011 to 2020, he was Dean of the Faculty of Fundamental Sciences.
He carried out research at the Technical University of Denmark and completed research placements at universities in the United States and the United Kingdom.
He has published one monograph, four textbooks and more than 50 scientific articles, and is a co-author of several inventions.
In 2008, he was awarded the Lithuanian Science Prize.

Gimė 1955 m. Tomsko srityje, Rusijoje.
1973 m. baigė Panevėžio 7-tą vidurinę mokyklą (dabar Juozo Miltinio gimnazija) ir tais pačiais metais įstojo į VISI (dabar VILNIUS TECH) Statybos fakultetą. 1978 m. baigęs studijas įgijo statybos inžinieriaus kvalifikaciją.
Nuo 1978 m. iki dabar dirba VILNIUS TECH. 1985 m. apgynė technikos mokslų kandidato (dabar – daktaro) disertaciją. Jam suteikti docento ir profesoriaus pedagoginiai vardai.
1994–2011 m. dirbo Vilniaus technikos universiteto (VGTU) studijų prorektoriumi, 2011 ir 2016 m. buvo išrinktas dvi kadencijas VILNIUS TECH rektoriumi ir juo dirbo iki 2021 m.
Nuo 2021 m. yra Metalinių ir kompozitinių konstrukcijų katedros vedėjas ir profesorius. Nuo 2022 m. išrinktas Vilniaus Gedimino technikos universiteto Senato pirmininku.
Vedęs, žmona Lina, dukra Ieva psichologijos mokslų daktarė.
Activities of the Emeritus Club
Emeritus members actively participate in the university's public and academic life: they continue research activities, prepare publications, write books, deliver presentations, contribute to academic journals, supervise doctoral students, and collaborate with academic organisations in Lithuania and abroad.
Meetings and Tours
VILNIUS TECH Scholarships
Since 2019, the VILNIUS TECH Professors Emeritus Club has awarded a scholarship to a selected final-year Master's student or integrated studies student, in accordance with the approved selection procedure.
S. Čaikauskas works at UAB “Architektūros linija”, contributing to a wide range of projects from interior design to large-scale buildings, and from illustrations to detailed drawings.
2019
G. Mejeras successfully defended his doctoral dissertation in June 2025 on the topic: “Investigation of Energy and Ecological Performance Indicators of a Spark-Ignition Engine Powered by Bioethanol in a Hybrid Vehicle” (field of Technological Sciences, Transport Engineering – T 003). He works as a lecturer and junior researcher in the Department of Automobile Engineering.
2020
R. Misiūnaitė works as a lecturer at Vilnius University Business School and at a company providing creative digital advertising and brand development services, where she creates and implements social media content solutions.
2021
K. Sakalauskas has been a doctoral student in the Civil Engineering (T 002) research direction since September 2022 (supervisor: Prof. Habil. Dr. G. Kaklauskas). He works as a junior researcher in the Department of Reinforced Concrete Structures and Geotechnics and at the Civil Engineering Centre. He has several publications in journals indexed in the Web of Science (Clarivate Analytics) database.
2022
No publicly available information could be found regarding G. Šalkevičiūtė’s activities after her studies.
2023
A. Galinskaitė works as a junior researcher and laboratory technician in the Molecular Biotechnology Laboratory. She has several publications in journals indexed in the Web of Science (Clarivate Analytics) database.
2024
A. Neniškytė will graduate from the Faculty of Architecture this year.
