Important tips:
- Beware of scammers – do not transfer deposits before visiting (or ask your mentor to check it for you).
- Always read rental agreements carefully and ask for an English translation.
- Many landlords only accept long-term contracts (min. 1 year). Negotiate with the landlord to sign a contract for a shorter period by offering your service to find other students to stay after your departure. There are always new exchange students coming each semester.

Mentor / Buddy Programme
Erasmus Student Network (ESN) at VILNIUS TECH is a non-governmental, student-run organization – a part of the largest student network in Europe, operating independently and voluntarily.
What ESN VILNIUS TECH does:
- Coordinates the Mentor Programme with the International Relations Office;
- Organizes some of Orientation Days activities;
- During the semester invites students to participate in many social and leisure activities – trips, cultural evenings, sports events, quiz nights and many others.
VILNIUS TECH offers a Mentor Programme that pairs exchange students with a local VILNIUS TECH student volunteer.
A mentor can help:
- Settle in
- Integrate into local culture
- Receive practical advice and support
How it works:
- If you would like to be assigned a Mentor, complete the Mentor registration form sent with your Letter of Acceptance.
- Your Mentor will contact you as soon as possible, but no earlier than one month before the semester starts.

VILNIUS TECH encourages exchange students to travel to and within Lithuania in a sustainable way, helping reduce their carbon footprint and support the Erasmus+ Green Mobility initiative.
Travelling to Lithuania:
- Prefer trains, buses or car-pooling instead of short-haul flights whenever possible;
- If flying is unavoidable, consider direct flights to reduce emissions.
Getting Around Vilnius:
- Use public transport – buses and trolleybuses connect the city and campuses;
- Try Vilnius bike-sharing systems or rent an e-scooter for short distances;
- Walking is safe and convenient within the city as well.
Financial Support
- Non-EU Erasmus+ students funded by VILNIUS TECH may be eligible for additional funding if they choose green travel when travelling to and from Lithuania. Green travel refers to using low-emission means of transport for the main part of the journey, such as bus, train, or car-pooling.
- EU Erasmus+ students should contact their Home University for information about additional financial support.
