Institute of Architecture

For the implementation of projects, the Institute forms temporary research or artistic teams. Activities involve researchers, doctoral students, and students from VILNIUS TECH, as well as representatives of other research institutions, public authorities, industry specialists, and members of local communities.

Areas of Activity

  • Development of cooperation and partnerships with partners in Lithuania and abroad
  • Contribution to regional and national urban planning and architecture policy (including landscape architecture)
  • Preparation of applications and projects funded by EU and national programmes
  • Conducting research in architecture, urban planning, heritage conservation, and sustainable development of Lithuanian cities
  • Participation in the development and improvement of regulatory legal acts
  • Provision of consultancy and expert services
  • Delivery of expert, research, educational, and professional development activities
  • Research on the interaction between architecture and society
  • Provision of spatial planning, urban planning, and architectural design services
  • Participation in competitions for architectural, spatial planning, and other projects

History

The Institute of Architecture was established. Its highest governing body is the Council of the Faculty of Architecture.

Since 1 October 2010, the Institute has been headed by Assoc. Prof. Dr Jonas Jakaitis.

Since 1 October 2010, temporary research or artistic teams have been formed at the Institute to carry out projects. Their activities involve specialists from other research institutions, VILNIUS TECH units, public authorities, industry organisations, and partners. Students and doctoral candidates of the Faculty of Architecture are also successfully integrated into the Institute’s research activities.

General partnership and cooperation agreements have been established with the Lithuanian Technical Museum and UAB “OBER-HAUS”. Cooperation on specific projects is also carried out with partners such as the Lithuanian Builders Association, the Lithuanian Chamber of Architects, the Lithuanian Association of Landscape Architects, the Vilnius City Municipality, the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists, the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Lithuania, and others.
