Assessment and Recognition of Non-Formal and Informal Competencies

Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VILNIUS TECH) recognises competences acquired through non-formal and informal means. This process determines whether the applicant’s knowledge and skills match the defined learning outcomes of a subject, module, study programme or part of a programme.

Requirements for applicants seeking assessment and recognition of competences acquired through non-formal and informal means
  • The applicant must hold at least a secondary school leaving certificate.
  • The applicant must have at least two years of practical work experience in the field related to the competences being recognised.
  • The applicant must provide evidence of the competences acquired through non-formal and informal means (certificates, attestations, etc.).
  • The applicant must be enrolled on a study programme at VILNIUS TECH (the number of credits that can be awarded for non-formal and informal competences may not exceed 70% of the total credits for the programme).
Fees for the assessment and recognition of competences acquired through non-formal and informal means
  • Fee for examining the request to participate in the competence assessment and recognition procedure: €35.
  • Fee per credit awarded: €19.

These fees were established on 14 November 2022 by VILNIUS TECH Senate Resolution No. 10.141-57 on tuition fees for first-cycle, second-cycle and integrated studies and additional services.

Starting the procedure

Applicants wishing to begin the procedure should email the following documents to ieva.visnevskiene@vilniustech.lt (tel.: +370 5274 4946):

  • Curriculum vitae
  • Documents confirming educational qualifications
  • Completed application form for the competence assessment procedure (template available at the bottom of this page)

After the initial steps, a specialist from the relevant faculty will be assigned to assist the applicant in preparing for the assessment and recognition procedure and in completing all required documents.
