Additional individual grant based on actual costs

Additional financial support may be granted to students, graduates, academic staff, and administrative staff with special needs.

According to the Erasmus+ Programme Guide, a person with special needs is a participant for whom taking part in mobility would not be possible without additional financial support due to a physical, mental, or health-related condition. Such participants may receive reimbursement of actual and justified costs.

To receive this support, participants must apply directly to the Education Exchanges Support Foundation and complete the required documents. The form and attachments must be submitted no later than 1 month before the start of the mobility period.

Support for special needs

Support for special needs may be provided to students who already receive an Erasmus+ mobility grant to cover the following expenses:

  • Costs that are not covered by the travel and/or subsistence grant and are related to the participant’s disability, such as special transport, adapted accommodation, etc.
  • Tools and/or services, depending on the type of illness and/or disability. When applying, it is necessary to provide indicative price information showing the difference in the cost of goods and services between the home country and the host country. These costs must be directly related to the participant’s disability and/or individual needs. Please note that only the difference in price between the home country and the host country for the required tools/services is funded.
  • Living and travel costs of an accompanying person during the mobility visit, if clearly justified.
  • Preparatory visit costs, which may cover the participant’s living and/or travel costs, as well as the accompanying person’s living and/or travel costs, if clearly justified.
